In 2007 The Vincent Fund purchased a $5,184.05 Vecta Deluxe Distraction Station and presented it to the Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) Hematology-Oncology department. The Distraction station is a patient empowering multi sensory environment that enables children to watch a four foot bubble machine or an assortment of slide disks that portray colorful drawings and art work. It also has a large bundle of fiber optic cables that change colors when touched and played with. The Distraction Station is a vital tool in administering potentially painful procedures including insertion of catheters, dressing changes, drain replacements and assistance with sedation of children. The CNMC could not be happier with their new station. If you would like to look up the Vecta Deluxe go to www.tfhusa.com click on multi sensory Vecta Distraction Station.
In 2006 The Vincent Fund purchased 5 Dell Latitude D520 laptops cost $5,498. The laptops are used to watch DVD’s, play games and an outlet for parents to e mail family and friends. We also provided 2 headsets per laptop so brothers and sisters could watch or play together and try not to disturb others.
We are planning to donate again to CNMC in 2008. When we make that contribution we will update this site so you can see what your donation helped to obtain.
